This course deals with the application of numerical control and flexible manufacturing and assembly from a users point-of-view.
Subjects covered:

  • Configurations of NC-machines and types of control

  • PLC's: technology, principles, programming

  • Servotechniques: dimensioning, types of servomotors

  • Position measuring systems: requirements, measuring principles, types

  • Servo-loops: feedback and feed forward, position loop, tacho loop, contouring errors

  • Interfacing: signals, standards, principles

  • Programming of NC-machines: computer assisted programming, interactive programming, CAD/CAM-interfaces

  • Direct Numerical Control (DNC)

  • Advanced techniques, diagnostic and maintenance aids

  • Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS): reference models, architectures, functional structuring
