Detailed description of topics:

Load transfer mechanisms within shells, axial symmetric shells: membrane theory and general theory. Boundary effects. Stress catagories according to engineering codes and standards. Axial symmetric bodies. Mechanical and thermal loading. Axi-symmetric and non axi-symmetric loading. Finite element approximations of shells and bodies of revolution. Mechanical modelling, approximate 2 D models for various construction details (pipe sheets, flanges, nuzzles, etc.). Evaluation of calculational results. Background of stress limits according to engineering codes.
