Remarks (specific information about assesment, entry requirements, etc.):

Goals:

The goal of this course is to make the students familiar with geometric optics, light detection, lasers and fibers. Next, the design of optical instruments and sensors is explained in such a way that the student can design new/alternative instruments for all sorts of practical applications.

Computer use:

Laboratory project(s):

Design content:

the design content of this course is found in the thorough analysis of optical effects and how optical instruments are put together, which design rules exist and have to be applied for realizing instruments (qualitatively and quantitatively). The student is trained to do the design work himself.

Percentage of design: 60%
