Detailed description of topics:
Autonomous small scale research conduction. One BSc assignment per 2 students. The students investigate and analyse a given problem, design a research scenario, formulate hypotheses, design experimental tests, perform measusements, analyse and interprete data. The results are presented by writing in the format of an abstract of a congress-paper, and also during an oral presentation at an internal faculty-congress.

Remarks (specific information about assesment, entry requirements, etc.):
Entry requirement is the (close) completion of the curriculum of the first three years. Idealy only this BSc Research Project shall be lacking. For sceduling convenience a deficit of maximally 7 other DUT creditpoints will be accepted. Statistics (Kansrekening en Statistiek) wi380 shall be completed, however.
The assesment is based on the presentation at the internal faculty-congress. Abstract, (possibly a paper), oral presentation and coping with questions will be judged.

Goals:
To stimulate an engineering research attitude and to master basic skills to perform some (small scale) research. Enlarging experience of oral and written presentation.

Computer use:
Dependant on specific assignment.  Experiments may be performed on a computer in specific cases.

Laboratory project(s): The BSc Research Project will be performend in a DUT or TNO laboratory or in an industrial real-world setting.

Design content: Dependant on specific assignment. In general there will be no mechanical engineering design component, the students will be stimulated to investigate and practice revolutionary new research concepts.

Percentage of design: 40-60%
