In this course one
can choose to perform a literature survey or develop a computer model (fem
programming). Both subjects are related to the fundamental research
focussed on the lifespan and performance of machines and mechanisms.
Subjects included are friction, frictional heating, loadability,
stick-slip, accuracy, wear, reliability, maintenance, lubrication and
