Detailed description
of topics: The design philosophy of the software with its top-down design approach is explained to help create models that are robust, flexible and easy to troubleshoot. By doing elementary exercises the design environment of Pro-Engineer is explored. The proof of the pudding is the design of a machine component. Topics: The Pro-Engineer interface, Sketching
techniques, Datum features and datum construction, Parent/Child relationships,
The behavioural modeller, Drawing and drawing templates, Creating and
managing assemblies, Layers and suppression, Creating freeform surfaces,
Configuring Pro/Engineer. |
||
Course material: Introduction to
Pro-Engineer, Training guide for release 2001 / PTC. Fundamentals of
drawing, Training guide for release 2001 / PTC. |

Learning goals: The course has two primary goals, Firstly to provide
both part and assemble design along with basic drawing creation and secondly,
to enable all users to create models pertaining to their own design function. |
||
Computer use: Computer use is
essential. |
||
Laboratory project(s): |
||
Design content: De design is mainly
concentrated in the last part of de course. The assignment is to design a
mechanical construction. |
