Detailed description of topics:

Based on a general integral appraoch  following topics are discussed

  • The integral balances in their general form

  • Dimensionless numbers, dynamic similarity

  • Couette end Poiseulle flow and their application to lubrication theory

  • Flow through pipes, Moody diagram, loss factors

  • Momentum integral for the boundary layer, drag due to friction

  • Flow around bodies, drag due to pressure, lift, instationarity

  • Inviscid compressible flow, isentropic flow, shock waves

  • Viscous compressible flow through pipes

  • Free surface flow, hydraulic jump

  • Turbomachinery, compressors
