Detailed description of topics: Precious historical artefacts are subject to degradation through time. This course studies the effect of various degradation factors on artworks, including temperature changes, moisture and UV radiation. The course has a focus on the diagnosis of degradation phenomena through materials analysis. It also includes a range of (passive and active) countermeasures that can be undertaken.
