Course information:

  • The position of the port of Rotterdam is for a major part the result of the inland waterway shipping.
  • The position of inland waterway shipping, ship types and their backgrounds.
  • Choice of ship type and equipment.
  • Logistics and optimation. Regulation. Relation ship – inland waterway.
  • New types of ships.
  • Building and construction. New developments in inland waterway transportation.

Method:

  • Studying literature about theorie and practise in shipbuilding, project management and specific applications in the maritime industry.
  • Doing research and writing an essay in a team.
  • Applying the theories found in literature.
  • Evaluating theoretical models considering common practice.

|A project is carried out in a small team of 2 or 3 students. Most of the time case-studies from the industrie are the basis for the subjects. Therefore a project is often carried out outside the University.
