Goals:
The student must be able to:
  1. describe acoustic radiation, knowledge of various non-dimensional numbers, sound pressure level, sound intensity, etc.

  2. describe the classification of source in monopole, dipole and quadrupole sources

  3. describe the background of various acoustic analogons, e.g. Lighthill’s equation

  4. solve a forced wave equation in terms of free space or compact Green’s functions

  5. estimate the noise produced by model geometries, such as round jets and cavities

  6. describe the basics of computational methods used in acoustics

  7. describe the basics of experimental methods used in acoustics

  8. describe the basics of blade/fan noise
