  • Recapitulation of fundamentals of engineering thermodynamics. Energy balance of open en closed systems, second law, entropy, irreversibilities.
  • Definition of exergy; exergy loss.
  • Plant layout: conventional power plant (boiler/steam cycle), combined cycle plant.

Goals:
Course for students of the faculty of electrical engineering, in particular students for the masters study on electrical supply systems. The course gives the basic knowledge and insight in the mechanical part of power stations, the main processes and thermodynamics of these plants.
