Detailed description of topics:

1.a        General introduction of the research department of BioMechanical Engineering: Industrial versus Medical Applications, Scientific challanges, Benchmarks and scientific networks.

1.b        Who are the people behind the MSc programs: MSc-ME variant BioMechanical Design (BioRobotics, BioCompatible Design, Intelligent Mechanical Systems & Man-Machine Systems); and MSc-BME specializations Medical Instrumentation & Medical Safety, and BioMechatronics.

2.         Explanation of the coherence between the oblicatory courses. Comments to the elective courses.

3.         Examples of projects in the 2nd year of the MSc.

4.         Explanation about how coaching of the students is realised.

5.         Presentation of some PhD projects.

6.         Informal get together.

Presence is obligatory. During the first lecture hours a detailed program will be presented. The students are asked to give a description of one scientific challenge related to research field of the department and to provide a brief overview about the main activities (laboratory research and conferences) on that subject.
