Detailed description of topics:

The integral design project consits of 4 parts:

  • D1. The basis skill. In semester 1 and 2 basic skills are teached and practised. The basic design skills consist of : sketching, dimensioning, construction principles and construction calculations. Basic manufactuirng skills are directed to learning how to manufacture a product and how to work safe with the machines in the work shop. The connection between these activities is the design, manufacture and testing of simple machine parts. The first part of this course is given in a tight scheduled instruction.

  • D2. The project part. In the third dimester you design, together with 5 collegues a first design of a complete machine. This machine will be manufactured by yourself in in dimester 4. The coaching in this second part is less strict, you have to plan your work yourself. Once a week we have groupdiscussions to control the progress of your project (presence compulsory). A part of the project D2 is 3 afternoon labs to help you with the course Vervaardigingskunde (wb5103).

Course material:

  • Course books: Ontwerpen Technische Inrichtingen wbp510, Constructieleer wb5102, Industriële Produktie wb5103.

  • Books: Technische systemen wb2100, Systeemkunde wb5100, Materiaalkunde mk1A, Mechanics of materials of the authors: Gere and Timoshenko wb1100.

  • Drawing material: drawing board A3-format (sales at VSSD-shop, a set of small geometry triangles, a compass, pencils 2H and H.

  • NEN-norm 16.
