Objective:
To obtain Dutch language proficiency at beginners’ level
Summary
The course provides extensive
language training for foreign MSc and Exchange students who will learn how to
express themselves well in simple Dutch, in everyday situations. Other
categories (Staff, PhD researchers) may participate provided that they pay for
the course (2002-2003 price, €375).
Detailed
description
For foreign MSc and Exchange students who have successfully completed
the Elementary Course or for others who have attained a comparable level. In
the lessons, which will be based on texts that have to be learned before each
lesson on aspects of Dutch life, it will be particularly speaking and listening
skills that will be practised. During each lesson, knowledge of the texts will
be tested with the aid of an automatic listening programme. Participants will
also have access to a multimedia learning, practising and testing programme
available on the faculty’s network. After this course participants will have
attained beginners’ level, which means that they will be able to engage in
simple discussions in Dutch on all kinds of everyday subjects. Those who do
well enough in the final test will be able to follow the “Nederlands voor
Buitenlanders – halfgevorderden” course (i.e. “Dutch for Foreigners –
upper-intermediate”).
