Research Theme

Construction of Work Space Model by using PenTag

Brief Explanation

This research topic aims to construct digital models of work space for assembly or maintenance in a factory. PenTag is the special identification tag developed by our group and it enables to get the information about object ID, position and orientation of the target object on which the tag is attached. Using the information obtained from multiple PenTags, a digital world in a 3D-CAD syste (SolidWorks) is appropriately constructed or modified. This system will be conveniently used for monitoring and instruction of assembly tasks in a factory.

Research Steps

1. Literature survey (one month)

2. Understanding and testing the PenTag program written in C++ (one month)

3. Understanding and testing the SolidWorks API (one month)

4. System design and implementation (one month)

5. Demonstration and evaluation (one month)

Period

5 months, but can be extended as a 10-month project, by including the development of realtime PenTag tracking.
