Research Theme

Machining Process Simulation based on ISO14649

Brief Explanation

ISO14649 is new language standards designed for CNC controller to perform intelligent and autonomous functions as well as its original controlling function. This research topic aims to develop a machining process simulator including 3D machine tools models. This software will be conveniently used for graphically demonstration of ISO14649 data.

Research Steps

1.       Literature survey (one month)

2.       Understanding ISO14649 and testing the sample program written in C++ (one month).

3.       Development of the simulator (two month)

4.       Demonstration and evaluation (one month)

Period

5 months, but can be extended as a 10-month project, by including real NC machine operation.

Necessary Background, Knowledge, Skills

Fundamental knowledge about 3D modeling, UML, XML, VRML.

Computer programming skills.

If necessary, some references can be specified.
