Research Theme

Development of Style Design System for Mobile Phone Based on Design Concept

Brief Explanation

At beginning process of an industrial product design, a concept is determined. The system developed in this project can create the shape according to the concept. The concept will be given by a natural language (Kansei Language).

Research Steps

1. Natural languages expressing a concept are extracted. (one month)

2. Questionnaire investigating the relationship between shapes and sensibilities is conducted and the answers are analyzed by the multivariate analysis (the factor analysis).  (two months)

3. A neural network model, which can create a shape from a concept given by natural languages, is constructed.   (one months)

4. The developed system is evaluated. (one month)

Period

5 months, but can be extended as a 10-month project, by advancing the system in detail.

Necessary Background, Knowledge, Skills

Fundamental knowledge about the multivariate analysis

Computer programming skills. (C language, Open GL)
