Research Theme

Identification and Classification of Methods for designing reliable Mechatronic Systems

Brief Explanation

In order to develop failure-free mechatronical products, several quantitative/qualitative methods are necessary for designing, verifying and validating the products during the mechatronics design processes, e.g. Requirements Management, FMEA, Risk Analysis, HiL (Hardware in the Loop)/SiL (Software in the Loop).

In this research, a selection of specific methods and their adjustments as well as assignments to the appropriate design processes are elaborated, so that the mechatronics design processes can be optimally executed and result in reliably Mechatronic Systems

Research Steps

1. Literature research (one month)

2. Classifying mechatronics products concerning their types and application sectors, and the typical failures that occur in the products respectively (one month)

3. Selecting and adjusting methods not only for avoiding such failures, but also for designing, verifying and validating products (two months)

4. Assigning these methods to the appropriate design phases/processes (one month)

Period

5 months
