Research Theme

Modelling and optimisation of product development processes

Brief Explanation

Companies in different industries increasingly model and optimize their business and product development processes in order to enhance quality and reduce development times.

Research topics are

á       development of new concepts for the modelling and optimization of development processes and

á       best use and enhancement of human knowledge and competence.

Research Steps

1. Literature survey and analysis on differences in Japanese and European development processes and process optimization strategies (especially mechatronics) (1,5 month);

2. Analysis and evaluation of existing concepts for development process modelling (1,5 month);

3. Specification for a software system supporting the modelling and optimization of development processes (2 month).

Period

5 months

Necessary Background, Knowledge, Skills

Fundamental knowledge about product development and quality assurance processes.

Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering in a commercial company and fundamental knowledge in software engineering (UML) is helpful.
