Research Theme

Application of Electrostatics in Mechatronics

Brief Explanation

Electrostatics has been widely utilized in micro-mechatronics, such as particle handling and micro-actuators. On the other hand, however, applications of electrostatics into macro-region of mechatronics were not yet studied well. In this research project, we are going to develop mechatronic devices utilizing electrostatic force.

Research Steps

(Tentative plan)

1. Literature survey (one month)

2. Practice on electrostatic experiments (one month)

3. Device design & fabrication (four months)

4. Experiments (three months)

5. Writing the final report (one month)

Period

10 months

Necessary Background, Knowledge, Skills

Fundamental knowledge about electrostatics.
