Remarks (specific information about assesment,
entry requirements, etc.): |
|
Goals: The purpose of this course is to give a deeper understanding in
how thermodynamic definitions can be used to come to an identification and
quantification of the irreversibilities in (specially) compressors. The
working principles and specific characteristics of the most relevant pump and
compressor types are explained and their application range identified. As an
example, a simplified design model for reciprocating compressors is
discussed. |
|
Design content: This course provides
the students with engineering knowledge to size pumps and compressors as a
part of a system. For reciprocating compressors a simplified design model is
discussed. |

Percentage of design: 80%. |
