Since machine elements that fail prematurely
or unexpectedly cause trouble, it is important to be able to identify and
predict failure beforehand, if possible, so that preventive measures can
be adopted. Failure analyis give good insight in how to avoid future
failures by improving the situation and conditions. |

Detailed
description of topics:
Failure analysis give good insight in how a
machine element can fail and what reason cause the failure. A system
approach for failure analysis and a large number of cases are described in
the course book. In
this course you will fulfill an experiment that will end in failure of a
machine element. Secondly, you will apply failure analysis techniques to
analyse the failure and report the analysis including a fundamental
description of the failure. | ||
