Detailed description
of topics: The process flow
scheme (or sheet) assignment will be done as teamwork with 3 or 4 students.
The main task is the design of a power plant, with regard to thermodynamics,
economy, environment and off-design-behaviour (especially part load). Besides
the prerequisites, support is given by the lectures Thermal Power Plants
(wb4422) and several instructions |
||
Course material: “Manual for the
assignment process-scheme”, available on “Blackboard” |
||
References from
literature: Kehlhofer,
Schröder, Spencer e.a., Traupel. More extended list available |
||
Remarks assesment, entry requirements, etc.): The report (of
approximately 20 pages + attachments), written by the students, will be
discussed in an oral session |
||
Learning goals: Application of the
theory from lectures in thermodynamics, understanding of the thermodynamic
behaviour of apparatus in a power plant, application of financial
considerations in designing. |
||
Computer use: The software
Cycle-Tempo is available to make the calculations. |
||
Laboratory project(s): No laboratory-use
required |
||
Design content: system-design,
preliminary plant-design |
||
Percentage of design:
100 % |
